Plea to spread awareness on RTI Act

Government fails to conduct public awareness camps to empower the common man
KADAPA: The Government is yet to spread awareness among people on using the Right To Information Act, Telugu Desam Party district vice-president and advocate M. Venkatswamy has said on Sunday. Delivering the keynote address in a seminar on `Right to Information – Transparent Government – the role of people’ organised by Jana Vikas Seva Samithi at Press Club here, Mr. Venkataswamy said though the Act was enacted a year and nine months ago, some officials were yet to decodify information and maintain registers on action taken on representations made by persons seeking information.
Despite the Government’s claims of transparent governance, it failed to conduct public awareness camps and to empower the common man, he alleged. Officials lacked work culture, wherein they should to issues raised by the common man.
Notice boards have to be put up at all public offices indicating the names of officials, appointed under the Act, designated to furnish information to people seeking it.
Social worker Sr. Tessy, samithi secretary G. Sivasankar Reddy, advocate Balaji Prasad and others Sunder Raj and Narasimhulu participated.

Conditional bail to TDP leader
CUDDAPAH: The First Additional Judicial Magistrate, T. Lakshmi, who is the in-charge Magistrate of Pulivendula, granted conditional bail to the Telugu Desam State Secretary, S.V. Satish Kumar Reddy, on Wednesday. The Magistrate directed Mr. Reddy not to enter the disputed ZP land in Vempalle and released him on two sureties of Rs. 10,000 each. However, bail was rejected to eight other TDP activists remanded in the non-bailable case following a group clash with Congressmen. Mr. Satish Kumar Reddy was released from Cuddapah Central Prison, where he was lodged yesterday. The TDP district Official Spokesman and advocate, M. Venkataswamy and advocate, Ramanjulu Reddy, argued on behalf of the TDP leader.

Congress lacks perspective on naxal issue: TDP
CUDDAPAH, JAN. 16. The Government lacked a proper perspective on resolving the naxalite problem, which led to breach of peace, alleged the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday. Extension of ceasefire by the Government and CPI (Maoist) to ensure sustenance of peace was imperative, the district TDP official spokesman, M. Venkataswamy, told a press conference here. Despite the understanding to suspend combing operations, encounters occurred due to lack of Government control on the police machinery, he alleged. The Government must ascertain the reasons and take remedial measures. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, described naxal problem as a political one on the election eve, but failed to find a proper solution, he alleged.

KADAPA: Telugu Desam Party will relentlessly strive to ensure people’s welfare, TDP district president and former MLA S. Raghurami Reddy said on Saturday.
Speaking after inaugurating a blood donation camp at Basavatharakam Law College premises here on TDP’s 27th foundation day, said the party’s founder N.T. Rama Rao struggled for the welfare of downtrodden and his successor N. Chandrababu Naidu introduced reforms and ensured development of the State in all spheres. After losing power in 2004, Mr. Naidu was effectively exposing corruption and irregularities in the present Government, he alleged.
People vexed
Despite disbursement of pensions and re-introduction of Rs. 2 a kg. rice scheme, people were vexed with abuse of power by the Congressmen, he alleged. Poor feeding was organised on the occasion. TDP leaders Ameer Babu, S. Subhan Basha, S. Harindranath, M. Venkataswamy, K. Balakrishna Yadav also participated.
